Franfurt am Main – not named after hotdogs, but in fact for the Franks who founded the city on a ford (furt, in German) on the river Main, this is the fifth largest city in Germany and center of the Frankfurt Rhine/Main Metropolitan Area.

EscapeWizard.com invites you to book your next vacation to Frankfurt. You will arrive in one of the world’s busiest and most important airports; to book your flight follow this link (www.escapewizard.com/flight.php). EscapeWizard.com can also assist with your hotel accommodations, just click this link (www.escapewizard.com/hotels.php?flag=htl) to book today. From here, you can easily access the rest of the city and the metropolitan area by train, including a visit to Franfurt’s main train station, one of Europe’s largest. EscapeWizard.com recommends picking up a multi-day transit pass at the airport train station. This is a fairly cheap and convenient way to get all over the city.  A group pass will save you even more money if you are traveling with others.  It is a quick trip from the airport to the central train station, where you can begin your exploration of Frankfurt on foot.

Listed by Loughborough University Group as one of the world’s ten Alpha World Cities, Frankfurt is an international centre for commerce, finance, culture, transport, education, and tourism. In Frankfurt you will see the European Central Bank, distinguishable by the giant 3D Euro symbol outside its front doors, plus the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and the German Federal Bank, as well as 300 other national and international banks.

EscapeWizard.com suggests from the central train station, you take a walking tour past the European Central Bank to the Main (pronounced mine) Tower. The tower’s open air viewing platform, 200 meters up, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding city and the landscape beyond and is open to visitors during the day and evening for a reasonable price. You can also enjoy a drink or a gourmet meal in the tower’s 53rd-floor restaurant.

Commonly in Europe, Frankfurt is home to an amazing cathedral, or Dom. Begun in the year 852, the Frankfurt Dom was the location of ten emperors’ coronations. EscapeWizard.com suggests you visit the museum and, if you are here between April and October, climb up the Dom’s tower.

EscapeWizard.com suggests you discover Frankfurt’s ancient Roman history with a visit to the Archeological Gardens, next to the Dom. These gardens were built in an unearthed roman settlement and Carolingian royal palatinate.

On the other side of the Dom, EscapeWizard.com invites you to visit Frankfurt’s oldest textile shop, the Canvas House. Founded in 1399, The Canvas House now hosts an art gallery.

Many other places of interest can be found right in downtown Frankfurt, including the Iron Bridge, Customs House, Fountains of Justice, Gay and Lesbian Memorial, and numerous museums, churches, and cemeteries.

If you have an urge to shop, EscapeWizard.com recommends a stroll down the Zeil, or, for those with more expensive tastes, the glamorous Goethestrasse. When hunger pangs strike, EscapeWizard.com suggests you have a look at the many restaurants and eateries along the pedestrian area, Fressgass, which runs between Opernplatz and Borsenstrasse.

You may wish to finish your trip to Frankfurt with a movie in a cinema, an evening in a beer garden, or a night out in a bar or club. Some of EscapeWizard.com’s suggestions are the Anglo Irish, Frankfurt’s local Irish Pub on Klein Rittergasse, the very trendy 22nd Lounge & Bar, so named because of its location on the 22nd floor on Neu Mainzer Strausse, and Casablanca Bar, filled with memorabilia from the classic movie, including live piano music (play it again, Sam!) located in Weisenhuttenplatz. If these are not your first choices, Frankfurt has several other choices for a night out.
