Kota Kinabalu lies on the western coast of the Malaysian state of Sabah. Though small, with a population of only 400,000, 'KK' (as it is commonly nicknamed) is the capital of Sabah, and a major port town for the region. KK is not to be underestimated, boasting historical significance and a wealth of native wildlife reserves, national parks, and flora that can only be found within the region.

Escapewizard invites you to book your visit to the peaceful Malaysian port town today! The city can be accessed by many major cities through the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI). To book your flight with EscapeWizard.com just click here (www.escapewizard.com/flight.php). The city is not very spread out, so finding your way from the airport to the center of town is not a difficult or expensive task. A far more challenging prospect is deciding between a variety of inexpensive and comfortable accommodations in the city. EscapeWizard.com can assist with finding great accommodations for you. Unlike many resort-style towns in south East Asia, you will not find yourself part of a large tourist minority in Kota Kinabalu. Although there are a variety of activities and ways to spend your time and money, they may not all be as obvious and accessible as in places like Bali, Boracay  or Thailand, which build their economies on catering to the regular influx of tourists from around the world. KK is a much more modest tourist scene, which suits many travelers quite well.

Although not obvious, if you find yourself searching for activities, maps and things to do you may be able to organize your entire stay at your hotel. Most hotels in KK also organize wildlife tours, hikes, climbs up Mount Kinabalu and other trek-style adventures around Sabah and other parts of Borneo. If you are at all adventuresome, this will be an ideal way to spend the bulk of your time in KK. A hike up Mount Kinabalu will take 2 days, with meals provided. Although strenuous from bottom to top (and back down) it can end up being one of the most rewarding experiences during your stay. You will experience foliage and scenery unlike any elsewhere in Asia. The state of Sabah in fact calls itself home to the largest flower in the world, the massive Rafflesia flower. You can venture to see the Rafflesia at the Rafflesia forest reserve, near Tambunan, a mere 20 miles outside of KK. Also a great place to experience the diverse fauna of Borneo, KK has easy access to the Kota Kinabalu city bird sanctuary, Sabah Zoological and Botanical Park, and the Green Connection, an aquarium with unique specimens of sharks, stingrays, fish and snakes found in south East Asian waters.

If adventure is not quite your ideal vacation, KK can be a bustling shopper's dream and a beach paradise for those travelers who prefer to relax and escape during their stay. KK has a variety of shopping options, ranging from large shopping centers and malls to outdoor markets, like the ethnic handicrafts market (formerly the Filipino market) along the water. The newly built 1 Borneo shopping mall is the largest in east Malaysia.

There are also cinemas, golf courses, a sports complex and a professional football (soccer) team to keep you entertained during your visit. With the vast array of activity options, the cheap and delicious food, it would be difficult not to have a pleasant stay in Sabah's capital.  EscapeWizard invites you to take advantage of the opportunity to experience the rich bio diversity of Sabah from the comfort of Kota Kinabalu.
