Carnival Cruise Lines Expanding New Orleans Capacity by 34%November 2009 is going to be a fantastic moment for New Orleans and Carnival Cruise Lines. That is because the cruise line will be increasing their capacity by 34%. It is through the introduction of the Carnival Triumph, which can transport 2,758 passengers, that Carnival is able to garner such a large increase in its passenger capacity. The Triumph is the replacement for the Carnival Fantasy that had a passenger capacity of 2,056 passengers. In addition to being a brand new Cruise ship for the Big Easy, new travel options are being offered. Those options include a seven-day eastern and exotic western Caribbean cruise that will complement the already popular five-day Mexican cruise.
As for departure times, the Carnival Triumph will have a departure day of Saturdays and will consist of visits to the western Caribbean. Four-day cruises will depart on Thursdays to Cozumel. Five-day cruises will depart on Saturdays and Mondays to Progreso, Mexico and Cozumel.
The Triumph will depart from New Orleans 65 times each year, which means approximately 200,000 passengers will experience these relaxing cruises upon an amazing cruise ship. This makes the Carnival Triumph the largest ship that will carry the most passengers of any cruise line in the industry.
As for the Carnival Fantasy, it will be sent to Mobile, Alabama where it will start to operate four and five day cruises. This will also take place in November 2009.
Carnivals senior vice president of marketing planning, Terry Thornton told media outlets, Were very pleased to bring a newer, larger ship to New Orleans as well as expand our operations with new seven-day western Caribbean itineraries that will provide exciting new Fun Ship vacation options. In addition to serving as an excellent homeport for Carnival for nearly 15 years, New Orleans is a one-of-a-kind vacation destination and were delighted to continue our relationship with this wonderful city,
In addition, the entire city of New Orleans is excited about the new cruise ship and the new cruise packages being made available to them, according to Port President and CEO, Gary LaGrange. LaGrange is also recorded as saying, This community has demonstrated its resilience and proven once again it is an international tourist destination. This business decision by a valued partner such as Carnival only reiterates the bright future of cruising in New Orleans.21.08.2008. 14:04 |
