Sacramento has a very rich history. The Sacramento Valley was discovered about 1806-1808 by the Spaniard Gabriel Moraga. He named it Sacramento after the Spanish word for “sacrament.”  It quickly became a thriving settlement. Sacramento is the oldest incorporated city within California, having been incorporated in 1850.

EscapeWizard.com invites you to travel to the California state capitol. The city can be accessed by the Sacramento International Airport (SMF). This terminal is located 15 miles north of downtown Sacramento. Book your flight today to the state capitol with EscapeWizard.com. To do so, please follow the link to make flight arrangements (www.escapewizard.com/flight.php). One of the best places for kids and parents alike to go in Sacramento is the Discovery Museum of Space and Science Center. It is largely a hands-on museum with plenty to see and do. There are multiple exhibits for vacationers to view. They also have Science Discovery Weekends as well, and all their exhibits are aligned with the California Science standards. The Challenger Learning Center has a large space simulation. An archeology exhibit offers a hands-on archeological expedition, but space is limited and there is a substantial cost. The Nature Discovery Room has many animals to see. They include mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates, and fish. There is much to see for everyone at the museum and EscapeWizard.com recommends it as a must see destination while in the city.

Another great place to visit with the family is the California State Railroad Museum. They have 21 restored locomotives and cars with some dating back to 1862. There are actual steam train rides on weekends from April-September. The ride lasts 40 minutes and covers 6 miles. There is much to see here for the entire family. Enjoy a ride on a real steam train throughout the countryside.

Another great place to go is Old Sacramento. It is in the heart of Sacramento and the buildings are recreated to be like the buildings of the past, numbering over 50 buildings in total. They are contained in 28 acres and educate visitors about the California Gold Rush and the Transcontinental Railroad. Some of the landmark sites are the 1840’s Scene, Pioneer Park, Pony Express Statue and Park, Central Pacific Railroad Depot, and the Riverfront Promenade. There are old-fashioned candy stores, soda fountains, and old-time photography shops here as well as many other things to enjoy.  Make sure you go and get an old-fashioned soda or shake from one of many retail stores there. The whole family will enjoy a day out at Old Sacramento.

Sacramento, California, is also a great location for nightlife. There are so many choices to pick from. If you want urban, hip or retro clubs, they have them. If you want to simply go and play billiards and share some drinks, there are places you can do that. There are even murder mystery dinner theaters to enjoy. Eat while you try to figure out “who was the murderer?”  There are so many great restaurants to pick from as well.

Overall, EscapeWizard.com can ensure you will have a great time exploring all that Sacramento has to offer. Most sites are easily accessible by car, bus, or rail. Sacramento has a lot to offer just about everyone. Just click on the link above and book your next vacation to Sacramento with EscapeWizard.com and enjoy!
