Have you ever wondered why the Spaniards thought so highly of Florida that they named it “Flower”? Indeed, they thought they had found Paradise. Located in Northwest Florida, Tallahassee is a true Magnolia of the South. At first sight, you’ll be struck with how “Green” the city is. It was environmentally-conscious before it was en vogue, and the majestic sky line is simplistically lovely with palm trees and magnolias, old oaks, and green spaces.

EscapeWizard.com invites you to book your flight through Tallahassee Municipal Airport (TLH) today by following this link (www.escapewizard.com/flight.php). And when booking your hotel, click here to use our hotel finder to find accommodations (www.escapewizard.com/hotels.php?flag=htl).

The city parks and Indian mounds, Spanish settlement sites and Arts and Science museums. It is home of the Supreme Court, and the Archives building, in addition to the Old and New Capitol buildings. It’s difficult at times to decide if you are in a government building or an art museum, because many of the buildings have a bit of both. Art and history coexist with government goings-ons and cobble stone streets.

You won’t want to miss the Tallahassee Ballet or the Tallahassee Orchestra, which are both recommended by EscapeWizard.com. If you are looking for a really eclectic world, make a point to visit Railroad Square. It’s an artist community where you can catch a glimpse of artists at work and find pieces you couldn’t get anywhere else. There is a sculpture garden, cabaret-style shows and maybe even a drum circle. There is even political satire at it’s finest!

There are coffee houses, and shops, theaters, art, and state parks all around the city. EscapWizard.com’s recommendation is Saint Marks National Wildlife Refuge which is nearby; it features a lighthouse, bird sanctuaries, wetlands, and even a Monarch Butterfly Festival in October. It’s less than 45 minutes from the city. If you head that way, you’ll pass the Edward J. Ball Wakulla Springs State Park that features one of the world’s deepest springs and even river-boat tours. It opens into the Wakulla River where you’ll likely see a Manatee or maybe even a Gator.

If you want to stay in the city, you can check out the Humidity Gallery featuring regional and local artisans, ceramics, art jewelry, a veritable cornucopia of handmade arts and crafts. You won’t want to miss the Tallahassee Museum. EscapeWizard.com then suggests a trip to the Natural Habitat Zoo that features the Florida panther, Black bears, White squirrels, and birds of all sorts.  It’s wheelchair accessible and features guest animals, one of which has been the rare Asian White Tiger.

Depending on the time of year, you can catch the Winter Festival, featuring light sculptures and parades with artists and music. If you come in the spring, you can catch Breakfast in the Park, and the Springtime Tallahassee Parade and related festivities.

Lake Ella is a beautiful stroll, right in town, with a lovely collection of cottages that is home to various shops, and it even features ducks and fountains, with wonderful places to sit, and even occasional entertainment. This sultry southern town offers worldly cuisine, hot night spots, and a flavor to charm any palette. There is fresh seafood from the nearby coast and the Blue Crab Festival too. Panacea is always breathtaking, and antiques and art abound there also.

If you do feel like going for a drive, rent a car and check out the beach. Saint Georges Island offers a beautiful beach with warm Gulf waters and a bridge across the Apalachee Bay. It features a wondrous view at sunset. You can even charter a boat and find yourself on a deep sea fishing adventure. EscapeWizard.com invites you to check out the Bay or see the Gulf, or both!

EscapeWizard.com invites you to book your next trip to Tallahassee, Florida. Vacationers will find visitors greeted with a “warm Southern welcome;” and friendly, helpful people, happy to share the local landmarks. EscapeWizard.com knows you will not be disappointed.
