The highlight of the city and best place to start your sightseeing tour is the Brown vs. Board of Education National Historic Site. This building was formerly the Monroe Elementary School and is now a museum where vacationers can learn about the historic Supreme Court ruling that made school desegregated in the United States. The Topeka school was one of five spread over five different states that was involved in the historic 1954 ruling.
