Offenbach is a highly diverse city. Due to hundreds of thousands of commuters each day, the city has been able to absorb influences through all walks of life in its modern age, most noticeably in its available food. Modern design can be found in Offenbach’s Klingspor Museum, a home for contemporary typography and book production. Look for varied manuscripts, ads, and letters for design that begs to be brought back into everyday production, and use the vast collection for great vintage inspiration. If you travel here in winter, aside from bringing your warmest coat, also advises going to “Bunte Kinderwelt”, Colorful Children’s World, at this museum. Major book publishers have chosen to debut new titles here since 1956, and the event leaves children and adults alike with full bellies and hearts.

In an interesting melding of old with new, be sure to see Isenburg Palace. Inhabited by royalty from 1556, this Renaissance-era building is now part of the Offenbach design university.
